Use nicer image names in sitemap.xml #8

Is there a way to get the re-named images to appear in the sitemap.xml file of a website?

Example: Instead of “awefh234y92342.jpg” showing up in sitemap.xml it appears as “red-jackets.jpg”.

The images aren't listed in the sitemap.xml by default. I don't know what the person who reported this bug to me meant. If someone has more information, please reopen this ticket!

I have the same problem, that is: images filenames in pages are ok; for ex: media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/440x600/17f82f742ffe127f42dca9de82fb58b1/p/_/p_93_18271140-4586/Samsung-Samsung-Galaxy-Grand-Duos-30.jpg

But in google sitemap filename is magento default; for ex.: /media/cache/images/1/thumbnail/602f0fa2c1f0d1ba5e241f914e856ff9/catalog/product/1/_ac53270b12c1ea1a232743209748c492.jpg )

Thanks for your comment @conceptiosrl When I generate a google sitemap.xml file using the Magento backend, there are no image links in it. How are you generating that file? Are you using an extension?

first of all thanks for the reply :-) We use Advanced SEO Suite by mirasvit

Vinai commented 10 years ago

Is it a free extension? If so, can you provide a link? In that case I'll happily take a look and provide a patch to the author of the extension how to support the better image names.

If it is a commercial extension, then I'm afraid I can not offer support for it. Instead, please contact the authors and ask them to integrate support for the Nicer SEO image names extension.

I assume you mean this extension:

Since it is a commercial extension, please contact the vendor and ask them to support the Nicer Image Filenames extension.
