*Although we would love to support everyone in their Open Source journey, we're still a very small team with limited resources. Priority for pairings will be given to Virtual Coffee Community members (attended at least one of the Virtual Coffee Zoom calls)

@tkshill this is great! A couple of thoughts:

  1. Could we add an asterisk: Are you interested in participating in Hacktoberfest (or Open Source in general) as part of the Virtual Coffee Community, but don't know where to start? Or are you an experienced developer looking to do this as part of the Virtual Coffee Community?*

*Although we would love to support everyone in their Open Source journey, we currently only have the capacity to support members of the Virtual Coffee Community who have attended one of our events.

Or something like that--or what if we say, members of the community will be paired with mentors and issues first, and if there's bandwidth, we'll work on a first come first serve?

Idk, what do you think?

  1. For these questions --

What skills/talents would you be willing to practice in your OSS contributions? (Check all that apply)

What are your goals with OSS contributions? (Check all that apply)

--what are the goals? I think it's going to be really hard for us, considering bandwidth, to try to directly match interests and people to issues. Would it make sense to hold off on this? And then once we have maintainers sign-on, they can give their descriptions and issues in a spreadsheet that people could check out and sign up for or say they're interested in it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Okay, I made a few adjustments. Added a small disclaimer at the end. We do need to prioritise slack members first (if only from a bandwidth perspective) but I'm not too worried about too much overflow because I figured we would be sharing links to sign up during VC zoom calls and in the slack?

I don't think I was thinking of direct pairing with the goals question, just kind of wanted to get a sense of people's motivations? I changed the phrasing slightly from goals to reasons. Let me know if that seems more reasonable. I think it would be very difficult to do perfect matches on motivations, but I figured the answer might also guide what we choose to do with the VC site specifically?

But we can just not include/hold off on the question. That's also fine.

I'm still unsure if we're the ones matching folks or if we're just creating a spreadsheet (or any Nice visual medium for showing people's responses) and letting them self select. Or a mix?
