Virtual-Universe / Virtual-Universe-Early-Dev

Virtual-Universe-Earlty-Dev is the early development stage repository of Virtual Universe. When something is committed to this repository it does not mean it is final and there is no guarantee it will make it to a stable release right away if at all. Likewise the code in this repository is considered very unstable and only the faint of heart should use this code for testing purposes only. Please do not use this repository to run a production level grid.

For Feature requests please answer the following

Describe the feature you are requesting:

Animesh is now released in Second Life, and so Virtual Universe should add support for it.

General information on Animesh is here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Animesh_User_Guide

Three new script functions were added to support it:

llStartObjectAnimation() llStopObjectAnimation() llGetObjectAnimationNames() Omitted though, is the ability for scripts to turn animesh on or off for an object. This could perhaps be done as a Virtual Universe improvement through a new function or through new prim params?

Has the feature been implemented by a similar project:

Just implemented in Secondlife

What other project similar to Virtual Universe has implemented the feature:

Other opensource grid architectures have not yet implemented it that we are aware of.

FYI, there is functional Animesh code in upstream opensim. 0.9-dev.

Good afternoon,

Yes, the Second Galaxy Development Team is aware that Animesh support is in OpenSim 0-9-Dev.

However, The Second Galaxy Development Team does have higher standards and requirements which means we do not just merge in stuff from an upstream source without it clearing our review processes.

Additionally, the Virtual-Universe-NXG repo is very unstable right now as we rewrite and factor the code to ensure it meets our standards.
Animesh support will be included in the first release under our new code structure.

Best Regards,
