Sorry, the package version and last change-log entry in /usr/share/doc/nightly/changelog.Debian.gz confused me.

$ nightly --version
Mozilla Firefox 76.0a1

So everything seems to work as expected.

Sure, is active. This package is only downloader and unpacker of current firefox nightly archive in your default language.
