In this example: BLACK = overlap RED + GREEN RED = current breeding distribution GREEN = future breeding distribution
In the WMTS images this is coded as RED band = current suitability and GREEN band = future suitability. The black area in the image above is just where they overlap.
Please note that the color scheme used on the CSN Tool is just fine, the image above is just to illustrate the difference in spatial extent of the RED and GREEN band.

When I zoom further in I can see that there are differences between the two layers being shown, see these two screenshots:
The species distribution layers for "Future suitability" that is displayed is the same as the "Current suitability" except for the different color. It looks like the RED band from the RGB WMTS is displayed with a different color scheme. For the "Future suitability" the GREEN band should be displayed with the corresponding value. Below is the example for Greylag Goose in breeding season (species ID 22679889)
