I think this is due to the fact that we have pugilist gloves that allow for wrestling to actually inflict some damage, and then we also have an artifact called the gloves of the pugilist.
This gets really confusing because we have two classes, one called PugilistGlove and another called PugilistGloves. Definitely no good.
It looks like the standard is for the plural. So we have things like ThrowingGloves for instance, so I would want to stay consistent across the board, or gloves in this matter.
