Research article types and how to write them

Right now I am using the term 'article' to mean anything that I am going to write a blog post about. However, there are at least four different types of articles that I am actually trying to write. I should probably create different article templates for each as they're all trying to do different things in actuality.

Types of articles:

• Tutorials
  • Learning-oriented
  • Allows newcomer to get started
  • a lesson
• How-to guides
  • goal-oriented
  • Shows how to solve a specific problem
  • series of steps
• Explanation
  • understanding-oriented
  • explains
  • provides background and context
• Reference
  • information-oriented
  • describes the machinery
  • accurate and complete

It seems like I found typo3's article, but I really should read the divio.com article as that has all of the information unfiltered.
