Hey!
Regarding the pins:
Berries and Mushrooms: Adding these features might increase the mod's resource usage slightly due to the need to detect nearby bushes. However, it's definitely doable.
Copper, Silver, and Tar Pits: I'm planning to implement a feature that allows players to choose icons for different types of pins in future updates ( #56 ). Renaming pins feature was temporarily affected by a Valheim update, but I'll ensure it's fixed soon.
Portals: Currently, the mod doesn't support custom pins (at least automatically), but portals are marked with a specific 'rune' pin, labeled with the portal tag, when pinged.
Buried Treasure: Thanks for bringing up buried treasures; I'll try to add them to the filter in the next update.
plains villages and dungeons : You can add pin for dungeons automatically by pinging them, except for villages, it's a bit more complicated to detect but doable if I remember well ( #101 )
Tell me if I misunderstood what you asked
Awesome! Yes, the things you pointed out as difficult/tricky are the ones I expected to be so. For portals, I use the actual portal icon (ring with feet?) that's in the base game.
Everyone labels pins differently. I use the shortest label possible since I label everything I find. That's why I leave the label blank for berries: they are the most common. My friend doesn't add the count, just "B" and "BB", but he labels copper nodes "Copper" which I find funny. Why does he give so little info for something you'll come back to often but give a long label to something you'll mine once and then delete?
All this to say I like where you're going with the mod, and I'd be happy to throw out more suggestions. I'm curious what other players use for their pin labels.
I could maybe add a color feature (red for berries, blue for blueberries etc. OR color per biome ?) and disable labels to "clean" the map a little bit. I'm trying to think of solutions that don't require setting up a very long settings file
Thanks for the suggestions btw !
Apologies in advance. I just got this working (thank you), and it's immediately useful with just the point-and-hit-T feature, but I'm curious how customizable the pins are?
Can I configure the mod to create any of these pins using my rules?
I can tell which type these are when similar by the biome they're in, and I assume the mod has access to the biome. The mod probably cannot detect the last type since it's not a game object by itself, but the others should be detectable.
Here's a screenshot for reference.
