Creating a Developer Account #123

This recommendation comes after spending an entire 14-day trial, speaking with no fewer than 7 Vonage employees and still...after two weeks, not one has been able to provide access to this API.

It would be incredibly helpful if this page could provide better instructions for creating a developer account. At present, it reads To request an account, contact your Vonage Business Communications account representative. There is significant confusion within the Vonage account personnel distinguishing your broader Nexmo Communication APIs and your Unified Communications API.

To start: on the Developer Center page, this service is called the "UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS APIS", then after clicking the link, it is called the "Business Communications APIs."

Asking for Business Communication API access will undoubtably get you connected with people in associated with the Nexmo Communications API. There should be an explicit note of what to ask for, that is unambiguous, compared to your Nexmo "Communications APIs." There needs to be a clear path that doesn't get you caught up for a week (like I experienced) talking to the wrong API team.

Next: "account representative" is incredibly vague. Especially if you signed up through your web interface. None of the emails provide an account representative name. To learn who your "account representative" is, via a web signup, the user should be directed to visit the admin.vonage.com page, Click "Billing", Click "Bill History" and then click "View Original Sales Order" in the "Billing Information" panel. On that Sales Order page, the individual will be referred to as an 'Account Executive'.

Thank you.

I can't believe that this comment is two years old and I have wasted three full hours of going around in circles and to realizing exactly what this above comment has mentioned.

I think if the project manager that is supposed to handle the API for the business account were simply asked to get an API key, I think they would realize how frustrating this is and would prioritize changing this

@jamesastound Sorry to bother you, but were you able to go get in touch with someone that provided you an account invite at all?

I found my account manager but he basically told me he is no longer in that role and it is not his problem (I'm not exaggerating. This is practically what he said). I'm struggling to find any contact that can help me get this done.

Try devsupport@vonage.com

My Acct manager from 2021 was Fernando Diaz Senior Account Executive fernando.diaz@vonage.com

My guess is after Ericsson acquired Vonage, a lot of people were shuffled or left. Best of luck.
