Made variable declaration in voice more unified with the rest of the codebase
Upated gradle version and syntax

relates to https://github.com/Nexmo/nexmo-developer/pull/3231

@dragonmantank you may be using an older version of gradle. try using ./gradlew build assemble command instead so that you will use the gradle wrapper which is set to a newer version of gradle.
