Themes: change the colors and shapes of the player and the mobs
New player model and mobs, with different animations
Adding firing to the player to destroy the mobs: opening this way could convert the game in a shooter one with dozens of possibilities (different weapons, shields, power ...)
Different worlds
Modifying the player aspect according to the hits received (color, shape ...): the player could resist 3 hits and evolve from green complete, to red with the ship semi destroyed.
