Thanks, I agree. I wonder whether waterBody might be useful for lakes?
There are 360 results in total using waterBody: https://val.vtecostudies.org/gbif-explorer/?filter=eyJtdXN0Ijp7IndhdGVyQm9keSI6W3sidHlwZSI6Imxpa2UiLCJ2YWx1ZSI6IioifV19fQ%3D%3D&view=TABLE
E.g. https://val.vtecostudies.org/gbif-explorer/?view=MAP&waterBody=lewis%20creek In this case they look like some have either wrong coordinates or wrong waterBody though. But the good thing about having the filter is that it might highlight the data issues.
Thanks. This is interesting. That a waterBody can be a stream or a river makes this potentially very useful. Knowing it's available means we can begin to use this field for future datasets and updates.
Also interesting is that we can search for 'all records having a non-null value' using the '*'. I was not aware of that.
For your site it might make sense to removed some more filters. E.g. continent, country, publishing country?, hostingOrganization, networkKey, publishingProtocol, waterBody.
