As far as I recall, each beam is specific to one of the log types in Vanilla or in Druidcraft. In order to support Biomes o' Plenty, Vulpie would need to draw textures for each of the various log types (and as BoP is All Rights Reserved he'd be unable to just reuse the original textures), making it a really time-consuming and potentially wasteful thing -- but that's up to him.
The only thing I can properly comment on is: if you just wanted to be able to make oak beams from other woods, you should be able to do that using a data-pack or with CraftTweaker.
oh okay, I had wondered why third-party mod support for Biomes O' Plenty woods was lacking in 1.16 a lot of the mods that used to support have tie-ins like storage drawers haven't updated their files for a while and now I know why. Thanks for your time.
The ability to use logs from other mods like Biomes O' Plenty in recipes such as small and large log beams.
