Maybe we can include the ensemble like so?
<Model>-<Method>_<Institute>-<ensemble>
So you would get:
FLEXPART_HAMSTER_UGhent_E01
as variable name or as title in the plots and maybe also
FLEXPART_HAMSTER_UGhent_E01.nc
as filename
What to do if there's no "method"?
Maybe not include it in the schema?
Or: first part consists of model and potentially also method, so we would get:
FLEXPART-HAMSTER_UGhent_E01 WRF-WVTs_USCE01 TRACMASS... ???
Also see for example how they do it for cmip? This is CMIP5 (see section 3.3)

In line with this: we also still need a consistent naming for the cases in the paper and figures. Has there been any progress on that on Friday afternoon?
Now we are using different filenames and different names for the ensemble members in various places. It would be good to make sure everything is consistent, also in the methods section of the paper.
Currently the table for the methdology is using roughly the following naming template:
but not consistently. Also it would be good to add the ensemble member.
