source_id registration of MPIESM2-LR #197

@mbittner1 take a peek at CMIP6_source_id.html to confirm you entry, I made a couple of tweaks for consistency. I also wonder if you have a version number for:

"ocean_biogeochemistry":"HAMOCC",

This would be useful additional information

@mbittner1 we have augmented the fields that we are capturing in our source_idregistrations. Can you please add in the activity_participation and nominal_resolution fields missing in your MPIESM-2-LR registration - there are some guidance notes for completing these fields found in Model_registration_template.md. We will also need the same information for the other registered models MPIESM-1-2-HR and MPIESM-1-2-LR

@mbittner1 your model registrations are revised, take a look at CMIP6_source_id.html and let me know if any further changes are required

I did note that for MPIESM-2-LR you have noted the land: description:"JSBACH4.2", I am wondering whether this should be JSBACH3.2 like the other configurations?

You have also indicated nominal_resolution values that are not in the lookup table, I have guessed the appropriate entry from this list.

I have also estimated the XXX x XXX longitude/latitude entries for the ocean descriptions, as these were not provided, please check this for MPIESM-1-2-HR and MPIESM-1-2-LR and let me know whether any revisions are required

@durack1 Thank you for the revision.

The JSBACH4.20 ist correct. In MPIESM2, we use an updated version of the JSBACH. But my colleagues responsible pointed out, that it is important to have two digits after the main version. So if you could change JSBACH3.2 to JSBACH3.20 and JSBACH4.2 to JSBACH4.20 that would be very nice

Concerning the normal resolution: Sorry, I did not notice that there is a lookup table to choose from. Almost all values are correct EXCEPT MPIOM1.63 in MPIESM-1-2-LR. Please change the nomRes ocean from 200 km to 100 km (which is closer to the actual approx. 83 km).

The actual longitude x latitude values are: MPIESM-1-2-LR: 256 x 220 MPIESM-1-2-HR: 802 x 404

Changes required, reopening

@mbittner1 I assume this change is in reference to the existing MPIESM-2-LR registration?

@mbittner1 I wonder if you want a version identifier, e.g. ICON1-ESM-LR included in the source_id? I also assume that for all these changes your label and label_extended will included the same value?

@mbittner1 we noted a formatting inconsistency with the aerosol, atmos and land nominal_resolution values for ICON-ESM-LR, and have now corrected this. Please check your complete model registration details in CMIP6_source_id.html and get back to me with any further tweaks required.

For reference, this issue was caught and resolved in WCRP-CMIP/CMIP6_CVs#466

@durack1 We decided to do small changes for the names of the atmospheric and oceanic component of ICON-ESM (from ICON-AES to ICON-A, and ICON-OES to ICON-O), can you please change it to

Concerning the version identifier (of the coupled model as well as the submodels): Nothing is officially decided yet, but I assume that before we put data on ESGF we will add version numbers to the models.

@mbittner1 @nedavid @johann-git @wachsylon I have just been analyzing some ocean output and noted that ICON-ESM-LR ['r1i1p1f1'] has 64 vertical levels in the available Omon/thetao output, but we have this registered, noting only 40 (see here). Can you confirm this is incorrect and should be fixed? If yes, please reopen this issue
