Hi, do you run an OpenOffice server in headless mode on the same machine that the openoffice client ? And, do you try to use the report openoffice plugin to edit the rent order report? You must not use Report OpenOffice to edit the report, but directly modify the .odt template file (in the rent/report/ folder).
I installed the python-uno module and that installed openoffice in headless mode on my server. As for my client that I am doing the editing from it just has openoffice installed. I was trying to use report office. I have since tried modifying the .odt file. I can modify it etc but after I upload it and try run the report I get an assertion error? Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Read the exception, maybe the error message is explicit. And remember, don't user Report OpenOffice to edit Aeroo Reports !

(<type 'exceptions.AssertionError'>, AssertionError (), < traceback object at 0x27d98c>) is the error I get :( that's after I edit the .odt file directly.

You should have a full debug traceback in you server console.

If you are running OpenERP on Windows, I can't help you sorry. If you are on linux, just look at the console start. You van try to check logfiles (on both system), but I don't know where they are, because it depends of config.
Else, when you got the error, you have a Tab which details the message.

Hey mate,
Can't find anything in the logs. Quick question. How do you edit/create the templates? It is only after i fiddle with them that it goes pear shaped. If I delete the last line of text at the bottom it will start giving me assertion errors. I'm assuming it's something I'm doing worn/set-up wrong.
Cheers
Ryan
Cancel that. I found what I was doing wrong... I kept deleting the /GlobalForLoop line.
Sorry for wasting your time. I feel so stupid..
No problem, thanks for your interest in OpenERP Rent :-)
After installing the rent module and it's pre reqs I can no longer use the OpenOffice report editor. Before I enable this module everything works. After I enable the module the output into OpenOffice is all garbled.. Have a look at http://www.openerp.com/forum/topic26973.html
Cheers
Ryan
