Scheduled calls for FLEDGE #88

Open michaelkleber opened 3 years ago

michaelkleber commented 3 years ago

We are holding (mostly) weekly phone calls to discuss and resolve the details of the FLEDGE proposal.

The next meeting is planned for Wednesday Oct 2, 2024 at 11am Boston (= 8am California = 5pm Paris time = 3pm UTC, during winter months).

Calls will take place on Google Meet:

Agenda proposals, attendance records, notes will happen in this Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Kr0hpfQ_Q1LX1aN00D5k_09yV_a7WE9RSn69nS3nZho/edit

For a speaker queue, we will use the Google Meet "Raise My Hand" feature.

If you want to participate in the call, please make sure you join the WICG: https://www.w3.org/community/wicg/

Other related meetings:

  1. People interested in this discussion may also be interested in the complementary discussion of the Trusted Servers that the browser interacts with during the flow of this API. See https://github.com/WICG/protected-auction-services-discussion/issues/27 for logistics of that meeting, which is scheduled to take place immediately following this meeting, around half of the weeks.
  2. Microsoft Edge folks are also working on a heavily-overlapping proposal. They intend to meet during this same hour every second Thursday. See https://github.com/WICG/privacy-preserving-ads/issues/50 for logistics.
michaelkleber commented 1 year ago

Note, for folks watching this Issue: The agenda of our recent every-other-week calls has been full enough to warrant more time. We are increasing the call frequency to weekly, every Wednesday. So our next call will be one week from today, on Wednesday Aug 23.

Thank you for your enthusiasm.

michaelkleber commented 1 year ago

Happy W3C TPAC week to everyone who has travelled to Seville, Spain, or who is calling in remotely.

We discussed the state of the Protected Audience API incubation in the WICG session yesterday. I've posted both the notes and slides in our usual meetings directory.

We will not be holding the weekly Wednesday call this week due to overlap with TPAC. We look forward to seeing you at the usual time next week on Sept 20.

AramZS commented 1 year ago

Hey all, are these meetings on a W3C calendar somewhere?

michaelkleber commented 1 year ago

I don't believe so. Hey Chair @yoavweiss, does WICG have a calendar that shows meetings for all the GC's incubations?

@AramZS I have to say I'm a little skeptical of how useful that would be, though, because clearly nobody cares about all the things being incubated in WICG. Once this work is adopted into a more topic-specific group (like PATCG), then obviously it would be a different story.

AramZS commented 1 year ago

@michaelkleber We've put some ad hocs from PATCG's individual drafts into PATCG's calendar even though they are pretty weakly affiliated until they move into a more official repo and I've personally found it very useful. If WICG is perhaps too all-encompassing for a calendar with all the individual incubations I'd think this is of significant enough interest to PATCG participants we could put it on our calendar regardless of current adoption state as an aid to our membership?

yoavweiss commented 1 year ago

There's no calendar for all WICG incubation calls. Makes sense to me to add this to PATCG's calendar, if PATCG folks are on board.

michaelkleber commented 1 year ago

Thanks Yoav. Aram, how do the mechanics work? We now hold this meeting weekly unless something comes up and we cancel... so once it's on the PATCG calendar, how do I perform those sporadic cancellations?

michaelkleber commented 11 months ago

Hi everyone, just a note that next week's meeting (Wednesday November 1 2023 ) is at 11am Boston = 8am California as usual, BUT THIS WEEK ONLY that is 4pm Paris time. Clocks will have changed in Europe but not in the US! So the Nov 1 meeting may be an hour off from what you expect.

michaelkleber commented 10 months ago

Hi folks: There will be NO Protected Audience call this coming week, Wednesday Nov 22, due to the US Thanksgiving holiday penumbra. See you the following week, Nov 29.

p-j-l commented 9 months ago

We’re pleased to announce that we’re setting up a new WICG forum for discussion of the servers that are part of the Protected Audiences API.

The first meeting will be next week on Wednesday 13th December and you’re welcome to join us!

You can find more details here: https://github.com/WICG/protected-auction-services-discussion/issues/27

michaelkleber commented 9 months ago

New! As requested in last week's phone call, we now have a calendar entry for this meeting, which you can add yourself to by joining the Google Group https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/protected-audience-api-meetings/

dmdabbs commented 9 months ago

Thank you @michaelkleber. Groups indicates that I succesfully joined teh group, but when I load that URL I get no soup:

You don't have permission to access this content

michaelkleber commented 9 months ago

Right, that group contains no messages, but joining it should (I hope?!) cause you to see a recurring Google Calendar event for our weekly call. (This is copying a setup that @csharrison has for the ARA calls, as requested in our call last week.)

bmayd commented 9 months ago

Worked for me. Thanks for setting it up Michael.

How can I join the group meeting after adding myself there?

New! As requested in last week's phone call, we now have a calendar entry for this meeting, which you can add yourself to by joining the Google Group https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/protected-audience-api-meetings/

anderagakura commented 8 months ago

Already done. That was fast!

michaelkleber commented 8 months ago

Hello folks! Due to conflicting time demands, we will need to reduce our Protected Audience WICG calls to only 30 minutes, instead of the usual hour, for the next two calls (Wed 1/24 and 1/31). (edit: see next message contradicting this)

michaelkleber commented 8 months ago

Update to update! Today's meeting (1/24) was only half an hour, as promised, but next week (1/31) we will revert to our standard full hour.

myonlinematters commented 7 months ago

Hi all! Is there a weekly meeting tomorrow (Feb 14) and agenda? I'd like to review the comment threads on the agenda items before the meeting if possible.

michaelkleber commented 7 months ago

Hi @myonlinematters: Yes, meeting tomorrow as usual, and the agenda items are as listed in the doc (which is to say, same as last week, minus those that were covered in the Feb 7 meeting).

michaelkleber commented 6 months ago

Reminder for folks outside the US: we have now changed our clocks, so folks calling in from Europe will see this meeting happening an hour earlier than usual (e.g. 4pm in Paris rather than 5pm) until you too change clocks at the end of March. Happy summer.

michaelkleber commented 6 months ago

We have now made it through the clock-skew weeks where the US and EU disagree about the beginning of summer. Meetings beginning next week, on Wed April 3, will be back to their normal 5pm Paris time slot.

Also, we will have no meeting on Wed April 10, two weeks from today, because the PATCG in-person meeting is at the same time.

TheTamFamily commented 5 months ago

Is there a call today 10th April at 16:00 pm BST (17:00 pm Paris Time).

michaelkleber commented 5 months ago

No, there was no call yesterday. The cancellation was announced in the comment right above the one where you asked. Also, if you subscribe to the Calendar event by joining the Google Group https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/protected-audience-api-meetings/, your calendar entry will be removed if some week's meeting is cancelled.

michaelkleber commented 5 months ago

Hi folks: There will be no call next Wednesday April 17 (next week), since none of the Google folks are available. Happy Massachusetts School Vacation Week to all who celebrate.

See you April 24.

michaelkleber commented 5 months ago

There was some question in today's call about how to join the magic Google Group that gives you a calendar entry for this call. Here's what you should see when you visit https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/protected-audience-api-meetings/ while logged into a Google account that is not part of the group:

Azrm68QDXyyvMoF

Even though "You don't have permission to access this content", you can still join the group. At that point there will still be nothing to see on that page, because the group has no contents! But you'll get the calendar entry.

Edited to add: If you used to have the calendar entry and it has disappeared, try leaving and re-joining the group.

warrrrren commented 3 months ago

@michaelkleber Is there a call today? I still see last weeks agenda items 🙃

michaelkleber commented 3 months ago

@michaelkleber Is there a call today? I still see last weeks agenda items 🙃

Yes, sorry, doc now refreshed for this week.

michaelkleber commented 3 months ago

There will be NO meeting next week, June 19, in honor of the Juneteenth US Federal Holiday. See you June 26.

michaelkleber commented 3 months ago

Hello folks! I was away for last week's call on June 26, and Paul is away now. So I don't know whether there was any consensus on whether or not to hold a call tomorrow, July 3, likely a holiday for many US-based participants. I'm happy to hold a call, but if regulars would like to 👍 or 👎 this comment to indicate their opinions on having a call tomorrow, perhaps I will learn that it should be cancelled instead.

Update: With only one down-vote, the July 3 meeting will happen as usual.

michaelkleber commented 1 month ago

NOTE: No new agenda items have been added for the meeting scheduled for tomorrow (8/14). We have two old suggested items from @thegreatfatzby that have been hanging around for a long time, but that he has demurred on a few times already.

If no new agenda items are suggested today, then I believe we should declare it "summer", cancel the 8/14 meeting, and reconvene on 8/21 if there is something new to discuss by then.

michaelkleber commented 1 month ago

Okay, with no items proposed for the Aug 14 agenda, tomorrow's meeting is cancelled. We will meet again on Aug 21, assuming there's someone not off on summer vacation to propose something to talk about.

omriariav commented 3 weeks ago

How can I get edit permissions to suggest agenda items?

dmdabbs commented 3 weeks ago

+1 the agenda doc is locked down.

dmdabbs commented 2 weeks ago

@JensenPaul and @michaelkleber the agenda doc is locked down. This week's meeting was canceled due to no agenda items and I heard at least one person chalk that up to the doc having been locked.

Do you have a new doc policy (to guard against spam) and so you want folks to "Request Edit Access" to add agenda items?

JensenPaul commented 2 weeks ago

I added comment access back to the doc; sorry about that, not sure how it got locked down.

michaelkleber commented 1 week ago

Hi folks: Please note that we will not be holding a call next week (Wed Sept 25) because of the W3C TPAC annual meeting. I look forward to seeing other TPAC attendees in person. Next call the following week, Oct 2.

Thank you @michaelkleber. When y'all archive and reset the agenda doc would you mind please adding a note about this week's cancellation?

michaelkleber commented 1 week ago
