Any idea why LED #1 is bright (brighter than LIFR) purple and can't be nulled off? I thought it might be the string but it does the same on multiple strings.
I was having the same issue, it appears there is an issue with the ESP8266 package past ver 3.0.0. Go into boards manager and remove the current ESP8266 should be ver 3.0.2 and reinstall selecting 2.7.4. The issue was resolved for me after that.

Thank you for figuring that out! I was actively troubleshooting and starting to think I had some sort of hardware design issue.
