This is now obsolete, the jet cut is not supposed to be used any longer. The code still make alternate histograms with the jet pt cut at 30 as a possible way to assign a systematic to fakes, related to the jet composition of the sample where fakes are measured.
Anyway, I'll close this issue
Currently the nominal jet pt cut is 30 GeV, for the syst it is raised to 45, and then the resulting variation is made symmetric around the nominal, but this doesn't make much sense. Either we define a proper band by reducing the jet pt (which has some drawbacks) or set the other variation as the nominal. As an alternative, one can raise the nominal jet pt cut to 35 or 40 and define a band reducing it to 30. It is not really recommended to go below 30, because otherwise the fake region has too much prompt contamination.
