On October 1st, 2nd and 3rd there was the WRO pre-World Championship at the convention center in Puerto Rico. Those 3 days were intense. The first day was for practice and in the middle of practice they told us that our robot could not have two DC motors because the rules say that the robot should only have one motor that controls both tires. Unless one motor depends on the other motor mechanically and electrically.

That same day they told us that we could take the robot to make changes to it in order to start the competition on October 2nd. What we did was take the robot and find a way for one motor to depend on the other motor, both electrically and mechanically. Making the motor electrically dependent on the other was easy, just connecting the motor cables and that was it, but mechanically it was a challenge.

That day we were up until 2 in the morning working to make the motor mechanically dependent so we could compete the next day, and we did it. We added two gears next to each rear tire and rolled the motors more to the middle of the robot. We put gears on the motors and connected the motor gears to the tire gears so the tires could move. We connected the tires with a metal stick that went from one tire to the other and in this way we managed to make one motor mechanically dependent on the other.

Here we have a video of what it looked like in the process.

The next day we took the robot to where the judges examined it and decided that it was fit to compete and that it followed the rules of the competition. So off we went to practice the first few minutes that we were allowed to practice.

After practice we started the first round free of obstacles. In the first round we don't know where the robot failed but we were only able to score one point in the round, since our robot didn't detect the walls and crashed before leaving the first quadrant.

Then before the second obstacle course we were given 60 minutes to practice so we went straight to fixing the programming error. We had some errors in some lines so I quickly changed them, adjusted the distances of the ultrasonic sensors and that was it.

With this programming we managed to make the 3 laps. So the standard programming would be this programming.
