Disable auto-zoom on form submit #26

Map automatic magnification can create confusion (minor issue)

In some instances, users who Zoom To a restriction are zoomed in so far that data is no longer useful. In terms of the restriction identified on US 101 in task 7, the map is magnified to the point that only the orange restriction displays on the map. Bodies of water, the highway and even local roads no longer displayed at this magnification.

Also, the size of the user’s browser window and the screen resolution seems to affect how magnified a highway or interstate is when a search is submitted. During scenario testing on a lower resolution display, the developing team and the usability facilitator noticed that some restrictions on US 2 appeared outside the map area upon clicking Submit. While the website did zoom into US 2, the highway was magnified to the point that only a portion of the highway was in view. As shown with task 4a of the usability study, users do not necessarily use the left navigation search results to find restrictions and may not find them if they have to pan around on the map for colored dots.
