Is a search field for HWY number something we would like to do? Seems handy. HWY Search Feature

Would the type in field replace the scroll here? Also that route label.. Yikes, need to fix that from being cut off.

PeterBurkhard commented 5 years ago

I’m good either way. I like to type it in but if both were available it would be more like SR View. I’m sure there are people out there that don’t like to type it in and would rather scroll... I just find it cumbersome to get to the larger numbered highways.

Hi Bruce, the HWY search feature has been added to GitHub. In your opinion should the type in search” completely replace the scroll wheel? Or keep both? The team will discuss further, just wanted your input.

This enhancement has been tentatively scheduled for theHATS 4.5 release.

The selection control is standard throughout the full app. If we switched to type in here, we also would have to support RRT and RRQ which most users don't have a good grasp on. The scroll list is already curated to the most wanted options.

jhudsonWA commented 4 years ago

Another reason this is complicated is that, let's say you type in 005, what is the map supposed to zoom to? 005 is the mainline but it is also a bunch of RRT/RRQs for Ramps and bridges. Or 097, that is the mainline, alternate route and a bunch of RRT/RRQs. The selection forces it to be a single route and makes the user choose the mainline vs the RRT/RRQ.

Can we filter by org code? Are we stuck with the Scroll Wheel Is there another solution?
