Forestry Machines #243

In order to use Forestry bees I need to power various machines. I'm not sure how to get the power from the engines to the machines without the use of BuildCraft, which I couldn't find an option to include. I could not get redstone to attach to the engines. I'm aware I can add BuildCraft, but I don't know how to alter mods so the internal item IDs don't conflict, so I would like to use that potential solution last. Any suggestions please?

place the engine so that it is connected directly to the machine.
