Hi, I received an email notification when an inactive user commented, but the comment didn't show on the site. What message does an inactive member receive when commenting? Why did it generate an email?

An inactive user does not should be able to comment

Maybe the comment was maybe before you inactive him. And the email delayed to delivery

Can you test to see if inactive user comments trigger emails? The email came through hours after I set the user to inactive - normally there is no email delay.

To comment a login is required

If is inactive the user cannot login.

So I really do not think he commented after the user was inactivated

He is inactive - but I want him inactive/deleted/banned from site (by IP)

Some things ....

User Management Guidelines

Inactive Users:
- Inactive users cannot log in.
- If a user is inactivated, they will be unable to comment or perform any actions.
Banned Users:
- Banning a user only restricts them from accessing your account.
- The banned user may still be able to view content and comment on other users' videos.
IP Banning:
- If a user is banned by IP, they can log in again if their IP address changes.

Current User Status (Nigel Tilbury)

I searched for the user in question and found that they are no longer in your system.
Since the user was deleted, they can create a new account and comment or log in again.

Recommended Action

The best option for you is to enforce email validation and inactivate the user.
This will prevent the user from creating a new account and gaining access again.
