Shimmerweed Basket #648

Open Aurigon opened 1 year ago

Aurigon commented 1 year ago

These containers with Shimmerweed (quest item) inside them have a respawn timer of 1s/2s. They should be on a respawn timer of 15 minutes instead.

Godmatik commented 1 year ago

All quest objects have a 10 second respawn timer. This is a custom improvement made by the server, and not a bug.

Possibly, but as I said those items specifically have a respawn timer which makes them respawn basically instant. Now, I could understand it if we were talking about quest items for the very earliest quests in the first few days of a realm's launch, but all later quest items (and all quest items in general just very few days into launch) should have (imho) the respawn timer they're supposed to, or quests that normally require a bit of commitment are reduced to a cakewalk (which in turn reeks of funserver).

In the quest at hand, you were normally supposed to go around the camp and collect the various baskets, which was done even more efficiently in a group. The way it is now, you can just solo it by staying well clear of the trolls, looting the first basket repeatedly and walking away as if the trolls were never there. That's simply not how it's supposed to be done. There are multiple baskets for a reason.

That is a suggestion then and not a bug report, as far as I know Wall is happy with the fast respawning quest objects and isn't likely to change it, but you can add your thoughts in discord on it.

I don't know if it's a bug or if everything has been tarred with the same brush, I only wanted to point out how: 1) The containers don't have the respawn timer they should have (i.e. not blizzlike); 2) The current respawn timer dumbs down the quest (The Perfect Stout), turning one of the first tough ones into one that's stupidly easy (check the WoWHead comments from the period). Fast respawns are useful for items where people would have to literally queue up to loot them, which would only happen for the earliest quests on server's Day 1. Later quests (or past day one) those fast respawns lose their purpose and even become detrimental.

As I said in my first post - it's not a bug, but a custom change made by the main dev, this applies to all quest objects, it is advertised as a feature in the discord.

Where in the Discord is it advertised? There's only a line which reads "there will be dynamic respawns when an area’s population is very high" and that's it... whereas dynamic should imply that it adapts to the number of players in the area (so it becomes normal when there's few people or none at all) as opposed to stay the lowest respawn time.
