Consider ditching [!] and [lock] icons from main screen

After all, the only thing they do is to add another box on the main screen. Why not keep those information permanently there, if respective count (critical items, unlocks) is nonzero?

The original reason was that on my (small) phone, the dashboard takes the whole screen, so the additional critical/lessons box pushes the progress bars off the screen. On the other hand, users never liked those two buttons much, so I believe I'll follow your advice. Oh, and have a nice holday (and don't forget to tell me if the last APK fixed the transparent button issue ;D)

Is the fix you want to verify also in just released Market's 1.8.0, or only in that pre-release apk linked in the other bug?

I'd suggest 1.8.0. If you are having issues with the swype keyboard, the 1.8.1pre0 restores the old behaviour: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wuiaie4epz6anzh/WaniKaniMobile-1.8.1rc0.apk The contain all the bugfixes
