skirmish singleplayer AI tech bug #4038

Hello,

I have played several singleplayer skirmish maps against 3 impossible nexus enemies. After 3 hours of playing they still attack me with viper machine guns. after 2 hours i researched the satelite uplink and could see their base they have high level buildings (factory level 3 satelite uplink) but the best unit they create after 3 hours is a lone pyhon hyper velocity gun and cobra lancer. they use some 3-4 low armored vtol's as well. and there are lot's of cyborgs standing idle in their base for over an hour. they have not constructed a single forttress or any other heavy defense either. i used to play version 2.8 there i was attacked much sooner with heavy weapons and armor and they created a lot heavy defences (forts). the best they have now is a basic lancer. if you need more info please let me know.

The AI no longer cheats. Now you see how stupid the original AI is. Researching random stuff, producing stupid templates, never throwing cyborgs into attack. It has always been that way, just it no longer receives some 10x money and 10x research speed. It would probably help you if you make your enemies allied.

If you are still sure there is a bug the argument above didn't explain, please attach a savegame so that we could have a look.

Thanks for the quick response and the idea. I will try your idea of allied enemies first and keep my save games for now just in case. If I understand you correct the AI changes make single player 1vs1 skirmish far less challenging if not unplayable due to a lack of enemy strenght. I did try the nullbot as well (insane difficulty) before receiving your reply but it is not much of a challenge either. I will try and let you know.

Well, in fact the default AI of 2.3 at max difficulty could have easily been beaten in under 6 minutes on a regular map like Sk-Startup. So it never really was a challenge. On the other hand, quite a lot of newer players find NullBot challenging in 1x1 on the same map (and yeah, it hella depends on the map).

AI cheating has been returned in current git master to some extent (eg. INSANE gets double power; i believe it should be decreased to around 1.7x).

I know it can go that fast but it does not fit my style i need some time to build up(slow starter). I like to build up a defence and wait to see if they break my defences and to play with higher technologies. i tried to play against 2 allied nexus opponents but even togheter they did,nt build beyond the basic lancer after 2 hours against my archangels. so still no challenge there nullbot combined is challenging however so problem solved i found my match again. thanks again my original bug/question is answerd/solved.
