Factory doesn't build units #2124

4.1.2 I'm on the first mission of the beta campaign which I came to via completing the Alpha campaign. The factory on the map doesn't build anything. I've tried lots of different units and even designed a new simple one, nothing.

If I start the mission by doing New campaign -> Beta Campaign the same factory works fine immediately building the default truck.

Save attached.

Start 14.zip

You need to include the .gam file also.

Ah, apologies. I restarted by re-ending the previous mission. Same thing: campaign.zip

Ah. That isn't a bug. You are at the production limit since you own 100 units or more. You'll get a console message when you attempt to produce more units telling you as such.

Thanks. I did not know there was such a limit!

Observations: a) The 100+ units aren't on the map and given the time limit and the 5 minute transport time, it's impossible to carry all the ones on alpha over. b) I have no control over the ... 80? units that are on the other map so can't recycle them. c) It's really easy to miss the unit-limit error. It only appears once not matter how many units you add/remove to the queue or how many queues and then only for what seemed like half a second. I only saw it because I was looking for it.

Suggestions: a) Don't count units that are on the alpha map. Count the number on this map. Then don't allow transports to come if they'll take the user over the limit. b) Make the unit-limit error more prominent. Show it every time the user adds a unit to any build queue. c) The error should say what the unit max is. Makes planning easier.

b) Make the unit-limit error more prominent. Show it every time the user adds a unit to any build queue. - this was the case on the PS1 game no question.

Best to update this issue title heading imo to better reflect the issue seen.
