You need to create a new repository called CV on your own GitHub account, clone that to your local machine, then copy the project files.
You can only access the page settings if it’s your own project or you have permissions.
@aawoods97 , I'm no expert, but here's what I did. (I also didn't find GitHub Desktop very useful for the Lab 6 project.) To find my repositories, I go to github.com/USERNAME, then click on Repositories at the top. If I select a repository, then I can click on "Settings" at the top and Pages on the left. Through trial and error, I found the address for an html page on my GitHub site is USERNAME.github.rio/REPOSITORY/FILE
Thank you both for your help! I was able to get all my documents uploaded to GitHub. However, it is only showing Nick Strayer's resume when I click the link for the page. My resume is loaded as the rmd and HTML. I also deleted the index files in case those were the issue, but it didn't solve anything. Is there a step I am missing?
Add /resume.html to the page URL
I am able to access it! Is there a way to change the URL of my GitHub site? Or should I just use the '/resume.html' when submitting the assignment?
You should submit the full URL for your resume plus your GitHub repo.
You can customize URLs, but you need to buy a domain name and pay to have it hosted by GitHub. Otherwise the URL will always be your username plus repo name in the GitHub.io format.
Perfect! Thank you for your help!
I am attempting to activate the GitHub page, but I cannot find it when using the web version of the site. I have included a picture of what I can see in the GitHub Desktop app. I have attempted to follow the listed steps several times, but it has not worked for me yet.
Did I clone the information incorrectly?
