I'm afraid I don't know enough about github to be able to give an answer at the top of my head. There is a debug option when you try to commit the file. Usually it will tell you what line of code the error is occurring in. Other students have had a similar issue.

In this instance it's the exact same code, I copied it from the original file before deleting, made the new file, pasted in the content then made the tweaks I was hoping to make and that's when everything stopped working.
