Pre-Discussion Position on Same-Sex Marriage. On the prediscussion-seven survey, participants indicated, on a scale ranging from 1 (“Oppose strongly”) to 4 (“Favor strongly”), their favorability towards encouraging states to recognize gay or lesbian marriages... Respondents again expressed their position on same-sex partnerships as legal unions on the postdiscussion survey... The end of project survey administered in January, almost three months after the discussions, also contained a question on the governmental effort to stop discrimination against homosexuals

Public Opinion Measurement involves determining participants’ opinions on the issue. The pre-and post-polls surveyed the students’ initial opinions and following changes using a Likert-type scale. The participants were asked during the pre-and post-polls, ‘‘On a scale of 1 to 7, how strongly do you agree or disagree with the following state-ment: ‘‘Students should be allowed to carry concealed handguns on campus for self defense.’’ Selecting 1 denoted ‘‘strongly disagree’’ and 7 denoted ‘‘strongly agree.’’ The pre-and post-polls measured the mean opinions of the two treatment groups before and after the deliberation.

We probably don't want a standardized survey for this, just use prompts in deliberation lab before and after.
