Well of Suffering range #1928

Open Chinthor opened 2 years ago

Chinthor commented 2 years ago

Issue Description:

Well of Suffering ritual range of operation and range of "find altar" much shorter than described. Note This is while using the modpack FTB Presents Direwolf20 1.18 and the bug is being sent to them also.

What happens:

The Sanguine Scientium says the ritual will search a horizontal radius of 10 and vertical radius of 15 to find an altar. It also says it will harm mobs in a radius of 15 vertical and horizontal. In reality, it is only finding altars within a horizontal radius of 5 and vertical radius of 10. It is also only working on mobs within a h/v radius of 10, not 15. I could be wrong, but not seeing any config setting or other option to change this range. Also finding nothing in the book or elsewhere that says certain will types or amounts need to be used to maximize the range.

If there is something (like a config or consuming certain wills) to change the range, would like to see it at least mentioned in the guide book.

What you expected to happen:

Ritual should operate at the ranges specified in the guide, allowing me to build and operate the fabled "Pit of Despair" composed of 8 wells of suffering, one T5 altar, teleposers to shift out and drain the altar, and nineteen 49x49 cursed earth platforms.

Alternately, the guide could be updated. But that would be sad. :(

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Build and activate ritual Well of Suffering.
  2. Spawn in mobs at various distances with restricted movement.
  3. Place down an altar at the expected ranges, 10 blocks away horizontal, 15 up or down, or both. Nothing will happen.
  4. Place down an altar inside the smaller 5v / 10h radius. Mob within 10 blocks start taking damage. Mobs @ 11-15 take no damage. ...

Affected Versions (Do not use "latest"):

Those pages of the Sanguine Scientiem list the max size possible using the Ritual Tinkerer (which is why it is shown at the top of the page), not the default areas for the rituals.

Chinthor commented 2 years ago

So... the tinkerer can be used to increase the area? I'll go try that.

Chinthor commented 2 years ago

Ok, I see now. I'll still say the guide could be clearer, but not a bug. My bad

This is still WIP, and will need WayofTime's approval before it gets included in the mod.
