Description: In this hands-on workshop session, we'll go over the most important things to know to confidently and responsibly step into the world of web3. This includes going over theoretical aspects, a live walkthrough of setting up a self-custodial wallet, discussing the importance and sovereignty of a seed phrase, security aspects and best practices around it, and helping you get fluent with DApps and monitoring transactions on a distributed ledger.

Session outline:

• How and Why We Democratise Access to the Web?
• What is MetaMask, Installation and Setup
• Networks; Mainnet, Testnet, Custom RPCs & Faucets
• Sending & Receiving Crypto
• Swapping Tokens
• Etherscan
• Importing/Adding Custom Tokens by Contract
• Intro to NFTs, ENS, and other popular DApps (as per time)
• Security best practices and attacks that we need to be aware of (major focus throughout session)
• AMA on my experience working in web3 and how I went from a novice, to Binance, to leading community and growth initiatives for MetaMask at ConsenSys, all within a year (this can also be done under #17 or at a teach-me-something booth)

Target Audience: Beginner to Intermediate

Style of Session: 60-90 min, hands-on

About Me: I'm a 23yo engineer from Delhi, currently working as a Community Manager at ConsenSys for MetaMask. ConsenSys has been on the forefront of Ethereum development, with a whole suite of blockchain products—Infura, MetaMask, CodeFi, Truffle, Diligence and Quorum, loved by developers across the globe.
