Decentralized SoFi: The Future of Social Media Finance
Social Media is one of the most useful mediums for sharing thoughts, information, jokes, and connecting with people in general. It has created opportunities for people to create local groups, and communities and engage with them. People today love to write blogs, tweets, articles, videos, and audio to interact with the people they love. Social Media was created to empower people from all races, communities, religions, and genders to connect and share their problems, solutions, and values.
But today, the major social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. are centralized by nature that giving the power to these companies rather than the individuals who share the content.
Decentralized Social Finance
Decentralized social media is the key to solving this problem. It promotes free speech, and ownership of the content and resists censorship. It solves the issues that come with centralization and actually empowers the content creators to share, and engage with their communities.
In the session, I will be talking about how Decentralized Social Finance can come to reality using Blockchains like SubSocial and protocols like Lens.
The session is targeted at intermediate builders having some experience with web development. No need to know much about blockchain itself (will be covering basics). It will be a zero to hero session where the attendee will not just understand the importance of decentralized social finance but will also get to build one.
Target Audience: Newbies in Blockchain space / Transitioning from web2 to web3
Talk type: 60 min Teach me something
Submission Type: Alone
About me:
I am currently working at Subsocial as DevEx and React Developer. I have been on the software development journey since the age of 12. I have created multiple social media projects from scratch and they are being used by people for sharing their thoughts, and ideas and connecting with people. I have been into blockchain development for the past year and worked with several companies.
It’s a blockchain developed especially for building social finance apps. It’s a substrate-based chain and uses IPFS to store metadata. Using Substrate also allows Subsocial to connect to the Polkadot and Kusama networks. It enables web2 builders to create decentralized social media using their JS SDK easily.
It is an open platform that allows anyone to launch their own decentralized censorship-resistant social networks and marketplaces. Subsocial will help you create your own decentralized version of the popular sites we see today, such as Medium, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, Discourse, Patreon, OnlyFans, and more.
