I'd like to start this item to discuss the process for proposing benchmark line items. In particular, it'd be great to sketch out the structure of this repository, determine the process, add documentation of the process, and open it up for PRs to add proposed line items.
Specifically, I would suggest these action items:
Add a proposals/ directory to this repo.
Add a first strawman line item for a line item in all/most of the benchmark categories (microbenchmark, kernel, application, domain-specific application).
Once sufficient clarity to Issue #1 is reached, iterate on the strawman line item(s) to bring them inline with the requirements.
Produce a Proposals.md page documenting the requirements and process.
Start accepting PRs into proposals.
Determine structure of "accepted" benchmark directories.
