Refactoring explainer.

This is still WIP. If agreeable, I propose to add more examples to the walkthrough to cover some of the TODOs.

Happy to discuss. I had reasons for doing it. Specifically I felt starting with import was important.

On reflection, I will abandon this PR. I have some other ideas on refactoring that I will discuss later.
