If you build websites, you inevitably run into problems. Maybe there’s no way to achieve an aspect of your design using CSS. Or maybe there’s a device feature you really wish you could tap into using JavaScript. Or perhaps the in-browser DevTools don’t give you a key insight you need to do your job. Dear Microsoft Edge Developer Team,

I am writing to express my concerns about the current security measures for password protection in Microsoft Edge. While the Edge password manager is a convenient feature, it is not completely secure as it relies on the system's primary password. As a result, if someone gains access to our system password, they can easily access our saved passwords, which could potentially lead to serious security breaches.

I would like to request that you add more security measures to protect passwords in Microsoft Edge. One way this could be achieved is by adding an option for users to set a custom password for their Edge password manager. This would provide an additional layer of security, making it more difficult for unauthorized individuals to access saved passwords even if they have access to the system password.

Additionally, it would be helpful if Microsoft Edge could include a feature that allows users to restrict access to saved passwords for specific websites. This would be particularly useful for shared devices or situations where multiple users have access to the same computer.

I understand that security is a top priority for Microsoft and I appreciate the efforts you have made to make Edge a secure browser. However, I believe that adding these additional security measures would greatly enhance the overall security of the browser and protect users from potential security breaches.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

If someone can access your account, there's little hope of securing anything. An additional layer of password protection here doesn't add much for security, but does add a burden for the user. If you require this, there are other password managers you can install.

This isn't the right place for this type of feedback. You can submit feedback to the Edge team directly through the Send Feedback form in the context menu.
