Could it be a missing Radeon driver?

http://s.natalian.org/2015-05-07/XS35GS_V2_e.pdf is the tech specs of the affected machines.

Having a /var/log/Xorg.0.log would help. Did you check if the radeon driver is installed in the chroot?

Yup, it is:

root@X1C3:/# dpkg -l | grep radeon
ii  libdrm-radeon1:i386                  2.4.58-2                          i386         Userspace interface to radeon-specific kernel DRM services -- runtime
ii  xserver-xorg-video-radeon            1:7.5.0-1                         i386         X.Org X server -- AMD/ATI Radeon display driver

Xorg log would help, but it's kindof a messy procedure asking client to reboot to broken version with support enabled. Will have to try.

I think it's some confusion between Intel and Radeon output. Argh, I hate it when they create hardware like this. I have had similar nightmares with nvidia + intel & http://bumblebee-project.org/
