The8thSoul: Could be powerful as it could confirm whether a lynched player was a wolf or not, as well as find another wolf in the process
The8thSoul: However, most of the time I would expect this role to see nothing
The8thSoul: So... a relatively weak TI in comparison to Fortune Teller, Aura Teller and Crowd Seeker, but can still yield very useful info
The8thSoul: Only problem is the "luck based factor"
The8thSoul: (If it's not obvious already, all solos will mourn if any of their members die to lynch the previous day. Basically, if you find someone mourning, they are 100% evil.)
The8thSoul: Because of how weak the investigative ability is, I am willing to say this role is not affected by disguises, obstructions or redirections.
The8thSoul: (disguises for certain, not sure for other two)
The8thSoul: Optional mechanic: There is another emotion you detect, which is happiness. This will show on players that both voted to lynch the player and are not on their team.
shapechange: so it's basically oracle but you compare one alive person with the person who was lynched yesterday
shapechange: pros:
cons:
shapechange: it's a cool idea but I think I'd probably vote no
The8thSoul: I had completely forgotten about Oracle ._.
The8thSoul: Welp, I'll just quickly write up a rework
The8thSoul: Town Investigative/Killing Each night, learn the number of suspicious players alive. Suspicious players are those who have committed any crimes throughout the entire game, which includes attacking players, manipulating votes and witchcraft (enchanting, wagers, dooming etc.). When more than half of the alive Townsfolk are suspicious, gain the ability to interrogate a player each day. This adds them to a private chat with you the following night. During that night, you may question them, executing them if you feel they are an evildoer. You may only execute once. You also have the ability to challenge a particular message to learn of any lies during interrogation. This is done by replying to a specific message and pinging the hosts, to which they will either reply "Truth", "Lie" or "Uncertain".
The8thSoul: <@458727748504911884> reworked it :D
The8thSoul: I probably should get rid of the executing ability and just have the ability to question about a particular message
The8thSoul: I think it would be unique though
shapechange: this is essentially a completely different role
The8thSoul: yeah
The8thSoul: Coz anything else I thought about kinda just went back to Oracle again or Aura Teller
shapechange: i think we've had the second part of the role (the interrogation part) proposed and rejected before? <@242983689921888256> might remember
The8thSoul: It makes sense tbh
The8thSoul: it's a bit subjective
The8thSoul: and probably would cause arguments
The8thSoul: I just felt like having the three options only should kinda help with it though
The8thSoul: coz I think I suggested something that used numbers before (a scale) and it was just too subjective
The8thSoul: Something called Mathematician or something

But yeah, for this variation it would either be the execution ability or the interrogation ability only

I'm not sure if it's been proposed, but we did have a MWR role called Interrogator
The8thSoul:

how did it work?
Ts: Interrogator | Townsfolk Killing | Unofficial Basics The interrogator interrogates one player each night, and can choose to execute them at the end of the night. Details Each day, the interrogator chooses a player to interrogate in the next night. The player will be able to communicate privately with the interrogator, and then the interrogator can choose if they want to execute the interrogation target or not. The interrogator gets a total of 3 executions, and can not execute night 1. If the interrogator executes a town role, the interrogator will lose all remaining executions.

wait... so Jailor from Town of Salem?

The8thSoul: I'm not sure whether it is suitable due to possible host meta

(sorry, I somehow misunderstood this part and thought you meant the lie detection part)

I think this mechanic wouldn't really fit very well
shapechange: i agree

👍

shapechange: the suspicious players part is interesting but i can't really think of a situation where it would be useful unfortunately
The8thSoul: Guess so
Ts: <@&1045732542399131769> anyone interested in this for v16 or should it be postponed?
shapechange: def not interested
shapechange: rather think it should be scrapped tbh
Ts: alright lets do that then
The8thSoul: Town Investigative Each night, may choose a player to learn whether a teammate died by lynch the previous day. All Townsfolk are seen to never have any reaction. Wolves only mourn if a pack member was lynched (even if they are packless or lycanless).
