Buff Horsemen #1043

!Phantomtomic: Having 4 people as solo isn’t a bad thing, but if the role requires 4 people to even be somewhat considered balanced, then I feel like a few small buffs could help the solo.

Currently horsemen feel incredibly fragile. It could use a bit more testing but its only wincon is to get to apocalypse, which is a pretty hard task to start with, and any horseman deaths can really affect the tempo of dooming and force them to win even later, where wolves or town could simply take the win before horsemen do. And when it doesn’t have its wincon, the most it can with its abilities is spam doom, and though HoD and sometimes HoF are pretty powerful, it’s not really too helpful for horses and the dooms are all they have.

Easier reuniting or buffing the doom mechanics could help horse. Buff suggestions (could be horrible): -Add a ununited horse to the horse channel every night starting from n2 -Some way to avoid night kills (?) -Some way to get extra dooms like reaper could (?) -Somewhat buffing the doom abilities (?) -Same horse types after transformation start off united (Or something like that?)

Correct me if I’m wrong on anything

Ts: the original horsemen always got a list of 5 players, one of which was guaranteed to be horsemen to speed up uniting

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

Ts: which is a method of buffing them im not a fan of

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: its a bit Lame

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

Ts: yea

huckhuck55: What about al horsies get a weak disguise?

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

huckhuck55: Could give them a bit of a defensive buff.

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: kind of ruins the point of famine

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

huckhuck55: Hmm… good point.

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

huckhuck55: I almost feel like the stipulations to getting to apoc need to change.

Think of it like this. 20ppl playing 4 horses 16 non horses = 4 nights of dooming 4 nights of wolf kills =12 non horses… 3 nights of dooming. (Plus they need to find each other)

By the third night the game is almost over and also ppl have died from HoD.

My point is, it would take some serious luck to get to apoc.

huckhuck55: That’s assuming that the current horses haven’t double hit the same person with doom and a horse didn’t die at all during the whole game.

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

!Phantomtomic: Well there's also kills and lynches

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

!Phantomtomic: But the general tempo part is correct

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

Ts: A simple smaller buff would be to immediately allow them to doom again should their dooming fail (which either happens through uniting or, as a new addition, when they target somebody thats already doomed)

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

Ts: Re-dooming might be useful in some circumstances but I think generally it'd be better for the HM to just get to doom somebody else instead

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

huckhuck55: so if doomed once they can not be doomed again? or it adds the doom effect and the HM gets to doom again? asking, if it would fail if already doomed?

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: i assume not

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: since dooming an already doomed person succeeds currently

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

huckhuck55: yeah, that might itself be problematic.... but maybe not 🤷‍♂️

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: because dooms tend to apply different effects (unless there are two famines or two deaths in play) i wouldn't call it problematy

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

huckhuck55: hmm... yeah, guess so.

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

huckhuck55: still might be hard to unite them all, but that said, would give them more of a chance to be united rather than dooming someone twice.
