Poll closing with a soulkill or snipe #1110

Closed CrowdfordBot closed 4 months ago

venomousbirds: I suggest we make it so soulkills have to be executed 5mins in advance (because people will need to read the announcement)

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: This could also be for any role that has midday actions

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: yes

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: they already do, we just pretend they dont

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts:

This could also be for any role that has midday actions

that is absolutely horrible

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

5uso: I think this is a reasonable compromise. It helps solve the issue but it needs to be conveyed to players with these powers somehow

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: delaying the poll by any time would make it contradict the snipe rule (if you plan a snipe, hosts will make sure the poll ends on time)

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds:

that is absolutely horrible

Let me rephrase: any role that has midday actions that are announced in storytime

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: less horrible

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: people need time to read (as they're likely watching another channel like voting booth or trusted cc or wolfpack etc) so they have to switch to storytime

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: i think all immediate actions that are delayed to "end phase" should be executed five minutes before phase change, and immediate actions should not be submitted after the five minute mark

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: that is my suggestion

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: and i believe what vera is saying

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: and then switch to voting booth to be able to at least do something

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: the channel switching also can be severely affected by slow loading times, bad internet and panic etc

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: 5 minutes seems like enough time for it to still cause the intended chaos and for people to actually do anything about it

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

5uso:

i think all immediate actions that are delayed to "end phase" should be executed five minutes before phase change, and immediate actions should not be submitted after the five minute mark

I agree the limit in delays and actively pinging should be the same. That ensures it's not encouraged or required to play optimally to do the action right at phase change

venomousbirds:

sounds fair

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: this also takes into account that hosts are generally busy around phase change (some more than others)

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts:

instead it then requires you to be online as early in the phase as possible

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

e_thsn: there should be exceptions (forgetting of prompts by hosts or target switching)

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: we have discussed this before and have concluded it is impossible to fix that

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange:

there should be exceptions (forgetting of prompts by hosts or target switching)

there should not

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: if delaying is as good as doing it manually, the new meta becomes delaying as early as possible

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: i dont think ive seen anyone misuse the delay rule (delaying first to do something before another role)

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

5uso:

instead it then requires you to be online as early in the phase as possible

I don't think as many situations are affected by two immediates mattering in the delay

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: hosts should not forget prompts, period

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

5uso: Or at least it's not as predictable

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

5uso: Also delaying very early on means you don't have the information from that phase to make the decision

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: that too

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: you can always cancel and redelay

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: maybe if we execute "delayed to end of phase actions" in an arbitary order?

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: so the strat becomes to delay what you think is best and continously update it

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: it keeps getting worse

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: i think that also kind of improves timezone imbalance

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts:

maybe if we execute "delayed to end of phase actions" in an arbitary order?

could you suggest anything worse

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: dont we have rule that we execute them in the order they're asked in?

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: yes

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: which i think is fine

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

e_thsn:

i dont think ive seen anyone misuse the delay rule (delaying first to do something before another role)

we had the opposite actually remember with solos and exorcist

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: ts you can dislike my ideas but you dont have to be a cock about them

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds:

we had the opposite actually remember with solos and exorcist

i dont remember

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: thats why i said what i said

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: if i had remembered i wouldve said that

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

5uso: Does anyone really play optimizing delays? People play doing actions last minute

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: "i don't like this idea because x" is way more respectful and constructive than "this idea is shit"

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

venomousbirds: i dont optimize my delays

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: this entire thread is shit

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: it never comes up

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

mctsts: and is a waste of everyone's time to discuss

CrowdfordBot commented 1 year ago

shapechange: ts man c'mon
