e_thsn: I guess it doesn't matter as much as PB because it doesn't spread
e_thsn: <@242983689921888256> we should also do ability types when making new roles so we don't have to think about it like we did with <#1125828281900470332>
e_thsn: So what are this ones?
mctsts: Infliction, Curing, Killing?
mctsts: requires update to definition of infliction
e_thsn: Yeah
captainluffy: Is this role good enough to vote on?
mctsts: I have no further points of discussion to add before voting
mctsts: Actually one thing: We can consider taking out scaling
mctsts: Usually for town that's fine and simplifies the role
mctsts: But we can also keep it
mctsts: It's not like the role is too complicated
captainluffy: Oh btw, should specify
captainluffy: Is the target notified of the poison
mctsts: no
captainluffy: And is the poisoning immediate or end night
captainluffy: Those details should be appended to the desc
mctsts: yea
e_thsn: <@&1045732542399131769> Apothercary, a delayed killing role for town
Version 1 (Scaling):
__Basics__
The Apothecary may poison a player at night, this will result in them being killed at the end of the next night.
The Apothecary may also use their antidote to cure the poison.
__Details__
The Apothecary starts the game with some flasks of poison, they have one flask per 5 players (Rounded).
Each night they may use a flask to poison one player, that player will then be killed the next night.
The Apothecary may also once use their antidote to cure a player of the poison saving them from death.
If the Apothecary is killed all of their active poison effects are dispelled.
Poisoning and using the antidote are immediate abilities
Version 2 (Fixed amount):
__Basics__
The Apothecary may poison a player at night, this will result in them being killed at the end of the next night.
The Apothecary may also use their antidote to cure the poison.
__Details__
The Apothecary starts the game with some flasks of poison, they have three flasks.
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
1️⃣ Version 1 with scaling amounts of poison 2️⃣ Version 2 with fixed amounts of poison Neither version
e_thsn: <@&1128435183113220106> too ^
shapechange: proposed discussion idea: the apoth has a certain amount of flasks, which can be used as either poison or antidote (ie if you give a first flask to a player, they're poisoned: a second, they're cured). i haven't thought this through so don't know if it would be good but it seems interesting at minimum
shapechange: (i also think that no scaling is better but am not super fussed either way)
e_thsn: I just like the scaling for scaling downward (making it not OP in smaller games)
e_thsn:

Ok that idea is good, makes it more risky to use an antidote
venomousbirds: isnt apothecary the name of the business and not the person that is part of the business?
shapechange: it's both
venomousbirds: could be confusing
venomousbirds: why did we stray from alchemist
venomousbirds: i havent been keeping up with this stuff
shapechange:
I just like the scaling for scaling downward (making it not OP in smaller games)
i think the problem with scaling upward is that it makes it harder to combine with other TKs/roles that can kill for town in larger games
venomousbirds: a fixed amount is definitely better
e_thsn: we could always make it 2 fixed amounts I guess, especially if we use Jay's idea below 15 players it has 3 flasks above 15 players 5 flasks
e_thsn:
why did we stray from alchemist
there's a role suggestion with that name iirc
venomousbirds: i dont keep up with this
venomousbirds: i think apothecary is really confusing
venomousbirds: is it commonly used referring to a person in english?
shapechange: yes
venomousbirds: i see
shapechange: more commonly than referring to a business, i would say
venomousbirds: wait so what do you call the business
e_thsn: chemists/pharmacy
venomousbirds: would pharmacist work better as a role name?
venomousbirds: i cant wrap my head around using apothecary as a person
shapechange:
wait so what do you call the business
an apothecary's or apothecarium traditionally
shapechange: the words have sort of fused nowadays because they're more archaic
shapechange:
chemists/pharmacy
well no not really, a pharmacy/pharmacist is the modern evolution of an apothecary('s)
e_thsn: ah I just looked at synonyms and it said chemists/pharmacy
shapechange: this is why we don't just look at synonyms ethan
shapechange:
would pharmacist work better as a role name?
feels very very modern to me
venomousbirds: yeah, that makes sense
e_thsn:
