shapechange: the real reason it's like this, imo, is that recluse was conceptualised (and i believe formalised?) before the creation of the term "wolfish players"
shapechange: having an exception for one single role makes zero sense
mctsts: A more significant edge case is protecting WWW
shapechange: recluse also doesn't specify whether it's affected by disguises or not - we usually do specify this even for roles where it definitely wouldn't be according to mechanics, for player comprehension purposes
mctsts: yep
mctsts: my mentioned issue could be fixed by having it be affected by strong disguises
shapechange: i was thinking that too
e_thsn: how would that work with sneaking wolf?
shapechange: presumably the disguise would only affect what role the recluse sees as visiting them, not whether player name is announced, since that's how disguises work
shapechange: so it would come up as "You have been protected by <@333962410102751232> (Citizen)"
venomousbirds: seems unanimous?
mctsts: yea
mctsts:
captainluffy: im not sure which ability u want to be affected by SD
captainluffy: or both
mctsts: what role ot sees
mctsts: for when a wolfish player uses an abilit onnit
mctsts: its necessary for www
mctsts: otherwise recluse ssees www
captainluffy: well ok, so what power does it see used for a psychopath disguised as something else
mctsts: it doesnt see psychos role
mctsts: it onls see wolf doles
mctsts: or doesni4
mctsts: no im wrong
captainluffy: it sees player from wolves
captainluffy: but roles from all
mctsts: yea ok
mctsts: then we have to decide if we want to keep thr awkawr wording or not
mctsts: if we keep it www is protected
captainluffy: this makes it so complicated
mctsts: otherkwise we have to add the disguise thing
captainluffy: i dont know how to phrase this
captainluffy: or the specifications that we want
mctsts: idk if we want a change
venomousbirds: i think its fine to change this
venomousbirds: its not much of a change i think
mctsts: making it affected by strong disguises is pretty significant actually
captainluffy: Then we have to say the power used on it was some random power of the disguised role
captainluffy: Or something like that
mctsts: no we wouldnt do that
mctsts:
if a disguised pyro powders reckuse it would just be mCitizen powdered you
mctsts: thats fine
shapechange:
if we keep it www is protected
it's not actually, it's part of the wolfpack
shapechange: we could change it to just werewolf players
shapechange: i think it being affected by strong disguises is extremely funny and we should do it but the easier fix is just to specify "werewolf team members"
mctsts:
it's not actually, it's part of the wolfpack
huh then idk why that ever was an arrgument
e_thsn: So apparently not only did we just somehow miss recluse in the list of roles impacted by wolfish, we did actually use the term when we added the attack immunity which is why it looks intentional <:pffffft:705639986384601110>
e_thsn: <@242983689921888256> what if recluse learns the role/group the ability originates from
E.g instead of White werewolf (Ts) attacked you It would be Wolfpack (Ts) attacked you
And since www mimics a role it isn't an ability that originates from www but another role
E.g White werewolf (Ts) Disguised you => Pack Tanner (Ts) Disguised you
shapechange: i mean i still dont get why we need this i have provided a far simpler and way better alternative
e_thsn: I remember us discussing RW x Recluse
