e_thsn: interesting concept but would also probably reveal the player too easily
e_thsn: however it could work somewhat if it was an SC instead
e_thsn: the Deciever can add 2 players to a channel including themselves
sarvak2: Sorry sc?
e_thsn: like how devil has the wager channel
sarvak2: Oh secret channel instead of conspiracy channel
e_thsn: because doing it based on ccs would be a lot harder
e_thsn: yeah
e_thsn: we don't always use CCs but if it's a secret channel they have a guarenteed chat
sarvak2: That's probably a fair alteration then haha
sarvak2: What about the other parts of the idea?
sarvak2: Honestly the deleting messages was more intended as like a side enabler to the wider idea of causing distrust
e_thsn: well if it can delete them from the SC then it is done by a host instead so would ignore the bot
e_thsn: so maybe the Deceaver also has whispers
e_thsn: but it would also need a way to win, which I guess would be the only one alive
sarvak2:
but it would also need a way to win, which I guess would be the only one alive
Sorry I put it in the other one, but I was thinking the win condition could either be if it gets enough people lynched/killed OR it can choose to win with a solo team if one exists, as a way to allow it to "pick a side" so to speak
e_thsn: Oh so it would fit as an unaligned then
sarvak2: Yeah I mentioned that in the other suggestion post as well sorry
sarvak2: I think having to be last one standing would be basically impossible without a way to directly kill people, so I think allowing it to ascend or play sides would be a more balanced option?
e_thsn: we can add the role suggestion tag to this one and close the other one
sarvak2: Thank you 🙏🏽
e_thsn: so unaligned that can add 2 people to an sc, has whispers and can manipulate the SC
sarvak2: Well my idea was that the deceiver could like make a claim to get another players trust, delete their claim and then like invite people to the cc
e_thsn: also I guess the part with the making someone say something instead the deciever can say something anonymously with whispers instead
sarvak2: So deleting messages coming as a tool to manipulate situations
sarvak2: Like just to communicate my intention/ideas of application behind the idea
e_thsn: Issue with that is without message context you know something got deleted and know someone there is the deciever
sarvak2: That's intended, they have to be smart about it
sarvak2: Which gives the other person the chance to catch that they're talking with a deceiver, cause they're being so careful with language
sarvak2: It allows for more counterplay if the deceiver has to actually be smart
e_thsn: Oh though we could add that it has the ablity to add everyone to it's extra channel too
sarvak2: Yeah but if it's marked as a SC would that reveal them?
e_thsn: no
e_thsn: cause some roles can have extra ones to their own
sarvak2: (how do whispers work again?)
sarvak2: Sorry I was trying to find it in the rulebook but it's really dense
e_thsn:
so you have
Your role SC
Whisper Talk Channel (Where the player with the role goes)
\/
Disguised /\
Undisguised
Whisper Selected channel (Where the player(s) selected go)
e_thsn: so you have 3 channels
e_thsn: one that's your own private one
e_thsn: one that you can talk anonymously in and see the other side of the discussion
e_thsn: and one that has the chosen players in it
sarvak2: Ohhh so like the bartender channel can speak in the tavern as a bot?
sarvak2: But like a private tavern
e_thsn: yeah
sarvak2: Ok so the "private tavern" is to command players?
e_thsn: it would be better if that's where 2 players spoke so it could actually see the messages and manipulate them
e_thsn: though I say this not even knowing if message manipulation would be possible in the new definitions
e_thsn: <@242983689921888256> would know
e_thsn: oh hi <@234474456624529410>
captainluffy: hi
sarvak2: Not exactly sure how this would work, but the fact you can't delete messages got me thinking about a role idea involving that mechanic.
The deceiver - the deceiver may delete 10 of their messages in a CC channel per day without alerting the bot, additionally, once per night, they may command a player to say a single sentence the following day (10 words or less) in a channel the deceiver knows exists (so if they think X has a cc with Y alone, they have to specify "X and Y CC" if another player like Z is in that CC, or X does not have a CC with Y, the ability fails but the deceiver is not informed why), which a host will relay to their target (who is informed that it came from the deceiver but not who the deceiver is) The commanded player isn't obligated to say anything after their required message, but they aren't allowed to reveal that the deceiver commanded them.
They automatically have a weak disguise against townsfolk abilities, but if a player they commanded is lynched or killed within a day of their command, they gain a weak disguise against all abilities and a strong disguise against townsfolk ones.
I don't particularly know how balanced this would be, but it seemed like a cool idea that uses a mechanic not played with before.
