During the night, they may pick a player. However many votes that player receives is how many votes the whale thing gets the following day. (This does not include their own votes)

They may also disguise people as a whale at night. They may do this every night, the disguises last until the whale thing dies (Maybe this shows that disguised person as placing a ton of votes?)

huckhuck55: What this mechanic would add to the game

a new dimension of unpredictability, town lead would have to consider how much they want to telegraph their votes.
Also, a possible buff to the whale thing, they pick 3 people for their vote guess thing, the person with the highest votes is given as extra votes to the whale thing. (Cuz guessing 1 person to receive votes would be hard)
also, would make town think harder about overloading a spot with votes, but also not spreading votes out too much. (This would make for a fun problem solving dilemma as it could open up opportunities for snipes)
also, with the disguises possibly making it appear that someone who isn’t the whale thing, placing votes, much discussion would be had about who the whale thing is, as evidence is not always reliable.

mctsts: there are two cases: a) killing role still exist b) killing roles dont exist

a) the whale thing actually has to disguise their extra votes (we have seen this happen with Ice King) as they will be killed if they are revealed as whale thing

b) the whale thing can actually use their extra votes, but they can still at best tie the game: 1) their enemies pick the whale thing as a lynch target and the whale thing has picked itself - at best they can tie the vote 2) one team picks a target which the whale thing has also picked and the whale thing + another team lynch an alternative target, this at best can lead to a 1v1, which still ties for the whale thing

huckhuck55: Either way, I think the mechanic may be useful in swinging things in favour of a team that is severely behind, if they can convince whole thing to help them (via votes)

Could also buff the way whale thing gets extra votes. Like maybe they can pick 3 people? Idk.

huckhuck55: alternatively Whale thing could have a different mechanic where:

if the player they pick receives +50% player count, whale thing receives a killing ability for 1 day/ night
if 25% picked, they receive that in voting power in polls as secret extra votes.
if whale thing is voted FOR, they gather votes from that player… ? Idk

huckhuck55: Well, I don’t know. I just think a mechanic that feeds off of votes cast = more strength would be cool.

Maybe it could be reworked a bit, or just scrap it if there is no chance for it.
