Ts: Doesnt it already do that?
Ts: Huh
Captain Luffy: At the very least it shouldn't be able to choose the same person every night
Ts: I swear it was meant to be so it can't protect the same player twice
Ts: I was like 100% certain that was part of the role
Captain Luffy: I was thinking more like it can't protect anyone at all the night after it uses its power
Ts: I think just making it so it can't protect the same player twice achieves sort of the same thing ultimately
Ts: But its hard to say without ever having seen the role
Captain Luffy: Or maybe like it can never protect the same person again
Ts: I could also see that work
Ts: We need to run mini wolf games with it
Captain Luffy: Or 2 protections total per game. Just some limitation
Captain Luffy: Lots of possible implementations
Ts:
Or maybe like it can never protect the same person again
I think limitations like this are better than "only twice per game"
Captain Luffy: 2 total would be somewhat similar to witch
Ts: I just think that limiting the number leads to less interesting strategies than limiting the possible targets
shapechange: i do think golem is pretty easy to win at
shapechange: people are already biased towards giving unaligned players the win, and in many games (not all, especially the most recent two, but they may be outliers), a team already has a significant lead by the time guardian is elected, so they're even more willing to give golem a win than they might be despot or angel
also i have heard several people in other circles say that using the word golem is appropriation of jewish culture, so if a jewish person (maybe <@234474456624529410>?) could weigh in on that that would be useful
Captain Luffy: That last part I never even thought of once lol
Captain Luffy: The name is used in so many different media, such as pokemon, terraria, Minecraft, etc
shapechange: mhm
shapechange: I've heard it brought up a lot in relation to minecraft recently
Captain Luffy: But I do agree, the role probably needs a bit more fine tuning
Ts: I'm also not super convinced by the role
Ts: Actually most UAM are fairly unconvincing imo
shapechange: many UAM are boring and many UAA have balance problems
Ts: Dog at least has Cat now
Ts: we should use them more now
shapechange: i agree
shapechange: i may be outdated on the cupid wincons but i think they could probably do with easing up slightly
shapechange: in the event of cupid x wolf and many cupid x solo teams, they are very very hard to win at
Ts: We use Cupid so rarely it's hard to judge
Captain Luffy: we had to make so many edge cases just to make cupid work lol
Ts: I mean cupid worked similarily before all the cupid variants
Ts: those are mainly buffs
Captain Luffy: true true. UAA roles are very swingy. dog works though if paired with cat
Ts: I kind of forgot we added Cat to be honest
Ts: Else I may have used it this season
Captain Luffy: its only slightly more interesting than putting a wolf and a crier in the role list by default
Ts: oh right it turns into town crier
Ts: wow I dont like that
Ts: Town Crier is one of the problematic roles in terms of just being to impossible to fake imo (<#1026637459875967046>)
Captain Luffy: so would you want to change dog/cat to become some other town role? maybe devout. though i know this is not the place to do that lol
Captain Luffy: or maybe could be like amnesiac where its an unknown role decided in advance by the hosts (both town and wolf).
shapechange:
Town Crier is one of the problematic roles in terms of just being to impossible to fake imo (<#1026637459875967046>)
i have very successfully faked town crier before
shapechange: it's just a pair fake
Ts: Ill make a post
Ts: This is gonna close soon, do we want to test this role a bit first or do we want a change for the next role book version?
Captain Luffy: Definitely needs nerf imo
shapechange: needs nerf ye
Captain Luffy: I know this role hasn't been used before but I think it's protection ability is pretty strong. Personally I think it should be nerfed a bit to be unable to use its power on consecutive nights.
