Do I need the SMD parts? #2

Thanks for sharing the PCB, I'm about to order from JLCPCB. Just a question in advance, I have only little experience with SMD soldering and wonder if I need the resistors and transistors. It is planned to use Ed's radio without a PAM amplifier, but with the rotary encoder, the BlueTFT and perhaps the Bluetooth transmitter (which needs SMD mounting).

I like to hear from you!

Hi,

Thanks for your interest on this PCB. At least you will need to install R4, R5 and T1, otherwise the TFT backlight will not lit.

Rgs.

Thanks for your reply. Maybe it's time for me to gain experience with SMD techniques and your PCB is a good and pleasant reason. So today I ordered the PCB, SMD tools including a hotplate and the necessary parts ;-)

Soldering SMD parts its easy than it seems, you only need a soldering iron with a thin point, and a magnifying glass. If you would like post a picture of the end result. Thank you. Rgs.

If the end result is neat I'll post a picture ;-)

👍

Here's the result of my first SMD project, I'm not disappointed. The resistors R1 and R2 are not mounted because I do not use the voltage divider.

Thanks for sharing the Gerber!

It looks pretty good. Soon will be finished and playing music. Thank you too for the picture.
