You will be missed! Best of luck and stop in whenever you can with tales of how they do Ruby in the big city.
The Ruby Hero nomination is more than generous: I think what we do is more-or-less the norm in the Ruby community, which is why this is a terrific community to be a part of.
And if their training branch isn't up to our example, then your mission is clear...
Wow! Best of luck to you with the move and the transition into working remotely. It was a pleasure getting to know you and seeing you become one of the core contributors to the training.
The kind words are much appreciated, and I echo Bill in hoping that you find an equally inviting community that you can contribute to in Atlanta. Look forward to hearing how things go, and seeing you soon!
Hey all, just wanted to extend my gratitude to this group. I am moving to Atlanta, GA this weekend. I am still working remotely out of Grand Rapids, and will actually work out of GR once every 5-6 weeks for a week and at time. So I may actually still attend this meetup when the two line up.
I just wanted to say thanks to @walsh1kt @billgathen @thejbsmith and all the rest who have answered my many questions throughout my learning. I will continue to remain a member of this org as I intend to continue to contribute to the challenges repo, bug you guys with questions, and attend Meetups with the dates are favorable.
On an unrelated note, I came across http://rubyheroes.com/. I nominated @billgathen and @walsh1kt for their efforts setting up this group and teaching me so much (not to mention providing free pizza). I also nominated @thejbsmith for the many hours he has spent debugging issues and helping me work through problems. I felt like these were great examples of the Ruby community and how giving it can be and often use these anecdotes at work. My boss cannot understand why people would spend hours at a time helping me for nothing in return. I would encourage you to vote for those that have helped you learn ruby or anything ruby related. It seems like a pretty cool way to recognize the hard workers out there in the ruby community.
Thanks all, hope to schedule my return trips to make as many Meetups as I can.
