[Personal Issue] DoubleFelix #126

In this issue I will post things too small to deserve an issue on their own. This thread wont be updated very often as I rarely distract myself from bigger tasks.

Today's specimen are skulls, lots and lots of them in fact. I remembered I made some bone piles for level designers and havent shared them yet, which gave me an idea for a dungeon decorating elements. This can be used for a mass catacombs or a necromancer den: ss 2015-04-21 at 08 34 26 ss 2015-04-21 at 08 34 24

This is made of variations of default human skull I made. Also a lot of individual skulls are tilted or shifted, some have hanging jaws and one has orcish fangs. Basically if you stare at them close up you will see a lot of detail. Unfortunately that was not enough to keep the skulls from being too repetetive from afar, so I will replace half of them with other bone parts somehow. Also the formations are high poly (around 35K triangles) and I cant optimize them further. Luckily in interiors its not a problem and poly count should go lower after I the replacements mentioned above.

It's a really cool idea, though I think there are too many skulls. It looks a bit repetitive. I'd like to see the skulls size increased by perhaps 30% or something to decrease the amount of rows. Maybe, if it's not totally against your vision for this model, have the skulls more randomly placed so it's not a perfect grid.

I'd love to implement this somewhere though!

NOTE: THIS MODEL THAT FELIX HAS SENT ME ISN'T PRESENTED IN THE PICS ABOVE. Fixed up a bone pile. Polycount is down to 500-600 polys. Link to the bones 3ds max file, hopefully someone will take this little project over as its a fun idea. If anyone does, report to Wheeze so he can tell you if he needs anything in particular. Do with it what you want, while for my intetions for it refer to above pictures.
