Add argument for CQ linux x86 Build a pi version that does not install box86 #47

Closed bwattendorf closed 2 years ago

bwattendorf commented 2 years ago

I have tested on raspberry pi desktop for x86 the Winelink script and it works very well when I comment out box86 (as expected). I looking as an enhancement to add a run time argument of cql that installs like the bap argument with the addition of not compiling and not installing box86.

here are my changes that work with no argument added https://github.com/bwattendorf/Winelink-X86

Thanks for the hard work on Winelink

WheezyE commented 2 years ago

Thank you for collaborating. I have a patch branch I’m working on that will include x86 linux detection. I’ve been relatively busy this year and apologize for the slowness in updates but I think the new version of Winelink will address your guys’ needs for CQLinux on x86/x64. I don’t have a timeframe but this should be a relatively easier implementation and I’ll direct you to a temporary patch branch you can link to when I have something working

WheezyE commented 2 years ago

Oh I didn’t see your Winelink branch. That’s a good idea too and thank you for your work on that. I may not merge this just yet since I have another solution in mind, but I am very happy to see your work and otherwise would have been happy to merge if I wasn’t already working on something similar. Feel free to continue any work on the patch 5 branch too if you like and I’ll try to merge those

WheezyE commented 2 years ago

Small update: I might not have more time today, but I added Linux Mint to the patch-5 branch. I put in a Debian x64 portion too, but haven't tested it: https://github.com/WheezyE/Winelink/blob/93a72540c7d48ca84420cdd61dbf426f2a86af5e/install_winelink.sh#L171 There are probably USB-access permissions for the user account (for rig control) that I'll need to add too for now.

Sorry in advance for the messy code. It's all very work in progress at the moment but this blob installs on Mint.

Just added Debian x64 installer (alpha) https://github.com/WheezyE/Winelink/commit/97e34626cb22ee4c61b77add31382eb51c6a8272 though I haven't tested x86 yet (I need to install those OS's on my OracleVM first).

cd ~/Downloads
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/WheezyE/Winelink/97e34626cb22ee4c61b77add31382eb51c6a8272/install_winelink.sh
bash install_winelink.sh

Eric, I tested on Raspbian desktop which is 32 bit on x84 and wine-stable has no installation candidate

So I am assuming the install of the wine sources list is failing. I will run it again and get the output to help further.

Thanks Eric.

I hope to fully test the Debian installs this week. (been working on moving to a new repository for the build a pi x86 https://github.com/CQ-Linux/CQ-Linux)

I will let you know my results.

Thanks

Thanks for testing that. I'll look into Raspbian 32-bit (i386) next

here is my piped output form the install

It turned out to be a typo - my bad! RPiOS i386 should work now as-of patch-5 branch commit #https://github.com/WheezyE/Winelink/commit/2ff5121e888b633f716b5ba91fc3ff7740dac57a I'll keep adding OS's. I'll merge patch-5 into the main branch at some point hopefully in the next ...month?

WheezyE commented 2 years ago

Hm, not sure if it's just on my end, but I'm getting some menu graphics issues with RPiOS on my VM when I try to go to VARA settings menu. Let me know if this happens on your end. I'll see if I can play with wine settings

bwattendorf commented 2 years ago

I think you might have hit the bug I got.. The latest Raspbian upgrade is deleting the start icon. The raspberry. You can manualy readd it. if that is the issue you are seeing.

Interesting idea but this isn’t the start icon missing, it’s the VARA settings menu looking black. Is your VARA settings menu all black?

Thanks Bruce

EDIT: Moving the black window aroudn in RPiOS makes the graphics come back. Weird...

Great! If all is working, I’ll close this issue

bwattendorf commented 1 year ago

Thanks Eric.

I hope to fully test the Debian installs this week. (been working on moving to a new repository for the build a pi x86 https://github.com/CQ-Linux/CQ-Linux)

I will let you know my results.

Thanks

Sounds great. I realized too that you were right about the start menu disappearing on Pi. I’m sorry about that - I didn’t know what you were referring to at first.

Let me know if the x86 Debian install gives you any trouble. You can also run the script with bap after it to run it in build a pi mode to have the script skip installing RMS Express and run without user prompts if you want

WheezyE commented 1 year ago

The script will auto-detect x86 and not install box86
